Archos has unveiled a new tablet that is equipped with a 3.5 inch display, the 35 IT, where IT stands for Internet tablet. It has a 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and comes with Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system. For storage, you get mere 4GB of flash storage, but can easily be expanded via micro SD card slot.
While, it would not come with Google App Marketplace, you will easily be able to load Amazon app store on it and still get access to millions of quality Android apps. Also, since it is an ‘archos’, you get out-of-box support for plethora of multimedia formats (H.264, MP4, MP3, AAC, FLAC, and OGG). Clearly, it is more an iPod Touch competitor rather than a threat to the Apple iPad (or a replacement for the Archos 10b that was introduced a couple of months back).
One of the things that we did not like is its low resolution display that packs mere 272 x 480 pixels which is even less than third generation of iPod Touch. However, we will spare it since it will be hitting the market for mere 135 dollars.
