Intel has released new series of Atom processors for micro servers, storage devices and networking systems. The new CPUs include Atom S1220, S1240 and S1260 that feature server oriented technologies such as Virtualization, ECC memory support and Intel 64.
The prices start from USD 54-64 and must be ordered in 1K quantities. These chips are built on the new Centerton core that feature most of the components on one die. These new processors have 2x x86 CPU cores with 512KB L2 cache. Here are the specs of Atom S1220, S1240 and S1260:
* Atom S1220: 2 cores, 4 threads, 1.6GHz clock speed, 1MB L2 cache, 8.1 watt TDP and $54 price tag.
* Atom S1240: 2 cores, 4 threads, 1.6GHz clock speed, 1MB L2 cache, 6.1 watt TDP and $64 price tag.
* Atom S1260: 2 cores, 4 threads, 2GHz clock speed, 1MB L2 cache, 8.5 watt TDP and $64 price tag.
