If the agony of choosing a netbook has put you down, it may brighten your day to know that Acer’s updated and affordable line of Happy 2 netbooks is now available for only 269 dollars. They come in four colors: Strawberry Yogurt, Papaya Milk, Banana Cream, and Blueberry Shake. Each one sports the standard Intel N570 dual core processor with integrated Intel graphics and 10.1 inch LED screen with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
The Happy 2 is also as portable as you would expect, with Ethernet LAN, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, and up to 8 hours of battery life. The netbook itself is only 1-inch thick and weighs just over 2-1/2 pounds. Finally, there is ample room as well: each includes 1GB of DDR3 memory and a 250GB internal hard drive. Windows 7 Starter and Microsoft Office Starter 2010 are included.
Compared to the Acer Aspire Happy first generation, this new model should be marginally faster. In our PCmark vantage tests, our test model, Asus 1015PX that also sports Atom N570 scored 1824. On the other hand, the Intel Atom N550 got 1635 (~200 points difference). However, in real world, you will not find anything faster. Gaming experience will remain unchanged as GPU (Intel GMA 3150) has not undergone any change. Read our Atom N570 vs N550 comparison to find out more about this processor.
