Ubuntu 12.10 Gnome Release Date

Few years ago, Canonical stopped using Gnome as their desktop environment for Ubuntu Linux OS. Unity sure has come a long way but it is not hated by majority of people. While you can still install Gnome yourself, Canonical will be releasing Ubuntu 12.10 with Gnome desktop environment on October 18 (2012).

Jeremy Bicha, developer behind the Ubuntu-Gnome project has himself confirmed this. This version will come with different set of default apps compared to the ones that currently come bundled with the Unity. Another interesting thing to note is that the Gnome edition will be community supported. [via muktware]
