Microsoft Surface Pro, unlike its kin, Surface RT is based on x86 infrastructure and comes preloaded with Windows 8 OS. This means that, theoretically it can run any x86 based operating system. Folks at geek.com did exactly that and was able to run Ubuntu, a Linux operating system. Here is how it looks like on the Surface Pro.
Since the Pro is able to run Ubuntu just fine, it also implies that a user will have absolutely no problem in running the most popular Linux distro right now, which is Linux Mint. He did pointed out Wi-Fi did not work out of box in Ubuntu, but we think it might work under Linux Mint as latter is backed by plenty more drivers.
