Jupiter is an amazing utility that is extremely useful for changing the clock speeds of your Asus Eee PC netbook’s CPU so that you are able to squeeze better battery runtimes out of it. While it used to work like a charm on the earlier versions of Ubuntu Linux, it does not works out of box in newer versions of Ubuntu (say v11.10). This guide will help you to get it working.
First, add the PPA’s to the current repositories. Fire up terminal app and paste these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/jupiter
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install jupiter
sudo apt-get install jupiter-support-eee
The Jupiter utility also allows gives you quick access to the resolution, orientation, Bluetooth toggling, Wi-Fi and so on. Keep in mind that the above commands only work for those netbooks that use Intel Atom processors.
